COHORTS

Winter Cohorts at New City Church

Cultivating a Discipling Community

A series of book clubs for men and women that is all about the life of discipleship.

This winter we will be looking at the book LIFE TOGETHER by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Read the book and then join Megan Johnson for a meaningful discussion on January 28th.

This story of a unique fellowship in an underground seminary during the Nazi years reads like one of Paul's letters. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups. The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service is treated in simple, almost biblical, words. Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

Garden City: Work, Rest, and the Art of Being Human by John Mark Comer
WHEN: Thursdays from 7 - 8:30pm
Beginning 1/25/2024 (6-8 weeks)
WHERE: Zoom
COST: Free
CHILDCARE: No
LEADER: Alan Montgomery
In Garden City, John Mark Comer gives a surprisingly countercultural take on the typical "spiritual" answer the church gives in response to questions about purpose and calling. Comer explores Scripture to discover God's original intent for how we're meant to spend our time, reshaping how you view and engage in your work, rest, and life. In these pages, you'll learn that, ultimately, what we do matters just as much as who we are.

We Are Reformed

A Cohort to Gain a Better Understanding of the Reformed Tradition.
WHEN: Sundays from 1:30 - 3:30pm
February 18 & 25 and March 3 & 10
WHERE: New City Church
COST: Free
CHILDCARE: No
LEADER: TBD
If you are new to the Reformed Tradition this is the class for you. Over four weeks we will examine some of the key doctrines that make Reformed churches distinct. We will explain why these doctrines matter in the everyday life of the Christian. Topics will include: The Covenant of Grace - how the God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament. Why do we baptize infants? God's sovereign role in salvation - predestination and assurance. Why do we pray and evangelize if God is sovereign?

Ongoing Cohorts

We have three cohorts that are repeating on an ongoing basis.
GriefShare is a Monday night class for men and women who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
The Conquer Series is a Thursday night class for men who are striving for sexual purity.
NCC Sports is a way for men and women to connect within the community in a variety of competitive sports.
